This social skills group for children and teens uses LEGO as the main medium to support social development. Each group will start with a brief lesson, followed by plenty of LEGO fun. Participants will have the opportunity to work in small groups to cooperatively complete LEGO challenges and popular LEGO boxed sets. A sampling of skills addressed include collaboration, joint attention, joint accomplishment, division of labor, sharing, turn-taking, eye contact, initiating conversations, compromise, negotiation, responding appropriately to peers, and recognizing nonverbal communication. As an added bonus, participants will also have the opportunity to shop in our LEGO Store using points earned during group time.
