Kids can grow into their best selves when they feel a sense of balance, especially during times of transition.  For many, the end of summer and start of another academic year brings with it a great deal of stress. During this transition,  it is important for our children to be prepared for what lies ahead. Start their year off right, by giving them an opportunity to enjoy our first ever Wellness Retreat at The Well!  In our culture, there is great emphasis on children being active, and on the go. Yet, believe it or not, children also need time to de-stress and relax. It is in these peaceful moments, that kids can reflect and process their experiences while creating that much needed mind-space to tune inward and notice how they feel. Peace and quiet allows the body to shift into “rest and digest” mode (the opposite of fight or flight) which is the mode in which the body can heal itself.  This kind of self awareness at a young age is essential for children to grow into more confident, strong, and resilient young adults.

treating them to a week long Wellness Retreat!

This Summer Retreat is designed from a holistic perspective, with an emphasis on strengthening mental wellness and the mind-body connection.  Over the course of the week, this program will immerse your kids in creativity, mindfulness and yoga. Each day they will be engaged in active and meaningful art-making, drama, reflective journaling, soothing and practical mindfulness practices as well as restorative, playful yoga.  Lots of time will be spent outdoors being inspired by nature right on grounds at The Well. Each child will leave with a personalized “Wellness Tool-Kit” which will be full of reminders, tips and all of the learned material from the week.

During the retreat, kids will use different modalities to explore a different theme each day:

  • Self-Acceptance

  • Kindness

  • Gratitude

  • Love

  • Community

A sample day of camp:

9:00-9:30 - gathering and welcome circle.
9:30 - 10:30 - community presentation: local farming
10:30 -11:30 - still life painting outdoors or gardening
11:30 - 12:00 - inspirational story and yoga class
12:00- 12:30 - lunch (bring your own) - mindful eating exercise
12:30 - 1:30 - open art studio or sensory room experience
1:30 - 2:30 -  creative journaling or drama games
2:30 - 3:00- closing circle and wrap-up.
